Wyoming Birds for Kids” for All of Wyoming!

The Bighorn Audubon's Board of Directors is very pleased and honored to announce that a generous grant was awarded to Bighorn Audubon from the Wyoming Community Foundation to supply all Wyoming public libraries and elementary school libraries with the delightful and educational book “Wyoming Birds for Kids”, authored by fellow board member Pamela Moore.

Beginning in 2023, using funding from our supporters, the Bighorn Audubon chapter supplied “Wyoming Birds for Kids” to each public library and elementary school library within our seven-county membership area. This effort totaled 63 libraries out of 371 statewide. We saw firsthand from children’s reactions and from many heartfelt letters of thanks from educators, librarians, and parents that this captivating book, highlighting 24 birds found in Wyoming, deepened children’s appreciation of birds and fostered a better understanding of nature. Each bird featured has an original rhyme, illustration, photo, scientific information, and fun facts, offering readers an engaging piece of literature, art, and science that truly advances the joy of birds and appreciation of Wyoming’s natural world in children and adults.

Now, with great thanks to the Wyoming Community Foundation, this wonderful book will be available to ALL of Wyoming’s children, educators, and parents through their public and elementary school libraries beginning this summer of 2025.

The Wyoming Community Foundation is a nonprofit organization that works with donors to support the charitable causes they care about most. Its mission is to connect people who care with causes that matter to build a better Wyoming.
